Who is Helen Rosa, Mortgage Broker?
Born and raised in Ireland until the age of 12, I emigrated with my family to Australia and grew up in Mosman Park. I have a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University, a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking and a Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking.

More often than not, your network of friends, family and colleagues can provide you with the name of a broker they trust. Word of mouth recommendations are a first-hand account of their experiences. But if that isn’t the case, you’ll need to do some research yourself. Here are the most common questions asked of Helen when speaking to someone for the first time.
How did you become a mortgage broker?
After university, I began developing a property portfolio, saving and purchasing several investment properties. During one of these purchases, my application for a loan was declined, and I didn’t understand why. I had a steady job, a good financial history and could service the loan. It didn’t make sense to me.
It was at that moment, I decided I wanted to learn as much as I could about financing mortgages. In the beginning, it was so I could use the learnings for my own advantage. But the more I learned, the more I realised I liked the complexity and structure that sat behind mortgage broking. I also discovered how much I liked helping people to achieve their dreams. I began broking in 2009 and by 2011, I had branched out on my own and started Rosa Financial Services.
What do you like about mortgage broking?
One of the things I love most about being a mortgage broker is that no two lending situations are the same. Whether it’s because of a person’s previous lending history, their current financial situation or their plans for the future, each day presents its own challenges that need to be navigated and a solution found. I’ll go to the ends of the earth to try and secure the best possible deal and there’s no better feeling than telling somebody their loan has been approved – especially, when they thought there was little chance of it happening.
Who are your customers?
My clients range from first homeowners to investors. I work with people who have had difficulty in the past securing a loan. I work with people who don’t have the time to navigate the ins and outs of mortgages, or who only want to deal with one person throughout the process. I work with people who have an idea of what they want their life to look like and I help them make it happen.
What advice would you give to someone looking to choose a mortgage broker?
Always check that your finance broker is licensed as a credit representative.It’s illegal in Australia to provide credit or a brokerage service if you are not licensed.The Australian Securities and Investment Commission have a register for all licensed brokers in Australia. Are you available for appointments after hours?
Today’s business world regularly stretches beyond the 9-5. Busy people have busy lives. Taking time out of daily schedules can often be next to impossible. Besides, talking about finances is a hugely personal affair. Often, it’s more comfortable to discuss them in the privacy of your home, which is why I am happy to meet with you at a time that is suitable for the whole family.
Are you a Perth-based mortgage broker, or from interstate?
Rosa Financial Services has been operating in Perth since 2009. The office is located in Napoleon Close, Cottesloe, just a heartbeat away from the iconic Vans Café. We also have an office in Dunsborough.
Do you specialise in particular suburbs?
Rosa Financial Services is the western suburbs mortgage specialist. I have a large database of clients that stretch from East and North Fremantle, through Cottesloe, Mosman Park and Dalkeith, up the coast to City Beach. Having grown up in Mosman Park, I know the housing market, property values and longed-for lifestyles of many beachside citizens. We also specialise in Dunsborough, Busselton, Margaret River and Bunbury.
Do you specialise in particular loans?
Some loans are a walk in the park. Others are as complex and carefully structured as a Cottesloe sea sculpture. Being able to provide a complete service, means having an in-depth understanding of multiple services and financial offerings.
As a mortgage broker, do you outsource any of your services?
I collaborate with providers of specialist services including lawyers, settlement agents, accountants and financial planners. These partnerships have been developed over many years and are with individuals and companies that maintain the same values and ethics as myself.
Who is Gemma Kidd, Mortgage Broker?
Born and raised in England until the age of 22, I came to Australia as a backpacker. I quickly fell in love with Australia and decided to make it my home. I met Helen early on in this journey first as a work colleague and then becoming firm friends.
Having left a finance background working for Bank Egg in the United Kingdom, I completed the necessary education and licensing requirements to become a certified mortgage broker and work for Rosa Financial Services. My experience in finance and banking has given me a strong foundation in the industry and a deep understanding of the complexities of the mortgage process.
Fast forward several years and I have now settled in the beautiful coastal town Dunsborough Southwest WA with my young family.
How did you become a mortgage broker?
After arriving in Australia, I fell into managing contact centres, which took me to working and living in all the major cities of Australia and the Philippines. After the birth of my first child, I wanted a career that I could fit around my young family as well as utilize my previous background and experiences.
While on maternity leave, I made the decision to become a certified mortgage broker. Today, I am committed to providing exceptional customer service. I take a personalised approach to each client, working closely with them to understand their specific financial situation and goals, and providing expert guidance every step of the way.
What do you like about mortgage broking?
I love being a broker as the work is diverse , flexible and satisfying , but most of all I get to help people each and everyday .
